ADHD Therapy with Real Results

This Should Be Easy, So Why Does it Feel So Hard?

You lost your debit card for the third time this year. Your partner went off when you didn’t seem to be listening to their story - again. You sit down to study or work but five minutes later you’re scrolling social media and before you know it, the deadline is here. NOW your brain feels ready to fit two days of work into two hours. You know you can do it, but it’s always by the seat of your pants. Sometimes you think life would be so much less stressful if you could just get it together, like everyone else.

If you have ADHD, or suspect you might, you may be struggling with difficulty organizing your time, forgetfulness, feeling distracted when you need to stay focused, initiating positive routines, or relationship difficulties due to communication or a sensitivity to rejection.

Your Brain isn’t Broken, Just Different

Michelle Davis at Inner Window Counseling specializes in treating adult ADHD and the many ways it can disrupt your life. I know these feelings first hand, as a person with an ADHD diagnosis myself. We will work together to find specific strategies to help you overcome “task paralysis,” communicate more clearly with others, improve your ability to remember important information, and teach you more about how the ADHD brain isn’t broken, it just works differently and needs a different approach.

Take Back Your Control

After our sessions, you will feel more in control of your time, better able to “take a pause,” and have the ability to communicate effectively. Best of all, you won’t expect perfection from yourself so the times when you do make a mistake, you’ll know it’s just that - a mistake, that you can correct next time.

You CAN do anything someone without ADHD can do, and in many instances you can do it better! You just need a different approach. Book your free consultation today to learn more about how Inner Window Counseling can work with you to create a sense of calm out of chaos and unlock your “ADHD superpowers.”

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How long does therapy take? How long it takes depends on each person; sometimes 3-6 months is enough, other times it may take a year or more. Usually clients that are able to come at least once per week see the fastest progress. Each session lasts between 45-55 minutes, depending on what we need to cover that day. Although therapy is not a “quick fix,” consider how long you have had these feelings. They didn’t start overnight and won’t go away overnight, either. But with consistent effort over time, you will see results.

  • How do you help people with ADHD? If you do not currently have a formal diagnosis for ADHD, we will begin by doing some screeners that can tell us how you score on some key areas usually seen in ADHD individuals. Depending on your score on the screeners and your goals, I may recommend formal neuropsychological testing which I will help you with a referral to. This is usually a 1-3 session appointment with a psychologist, and will not replace our work together but enhance it. Once we have established your formal diagnosis, either through your past treatment or through our work, we will begin identifying areas you struggle in, starting with the ones you feel are making the biggest impact for you. Taking your unique personality and situation into consideration, we will create a plan to work WITH you brain to help you achieve your goals. We will also be exploring how your past and present have impacted you emotionally and how this interacts with your ADHD. I will also help you take steps toward understanding yourself and seeing yourself with kindness, which is an essential part of making positive change.

  • Do you accept my insurance? How much do sessions cost? I am in network with several insurances. You can also pay for sessions with a Health Spending Account or Flex Spending Account. For a full list of insurances I take and the cost for self-pay sessions, click here.

  • How can I get started? First we will have a free phone consultation for us to decide if we would work well together. I will find out more about your goals and you can ask any questions you have. If we’re a match, I will send you a link to some new client paperwork to complete electronically. After it’s completed, we will choose a mutual time to meet either in person or virtually.
